Anabel Brough, Safety Manager – (Cabin) Group Safety, Emirates

Anabel is a commercially focused aviation expert with 24 years’ experience in the Middle East. A change agent whose breadth of experience stems from service delivery to product design, planning and research to safety; focusing on each touch point of the cabin crew journey.

A credible communicator, negotiator, motivator and influencer, with strong problem resolution skills. Effective at managing a remote and multi-cultural workforce ensuring that objectives are met, and service and safety standards are maintained.

Anabel has a diploma in Safety Management for Airlines from IATA. Implementing Emirates Safety Management System (SMS) and its four components (safety policy and objectives, safety risk management, safety assurance, and safety promotion) throughout the cabin crew community is part of her current responsibilities. Her other responsibilities include, event investigation and producing recommendations based on subsequent findings. Her team play an integral part of the safety risk assessment process with a particular focus on change mangagement. SMS data trend analysis, the pre-emptive implementation of evidence-based training, and instigation of awareness campaigns are all part of what her team do. Anabel and her team manage cabin safety for the cabin crew community.

Anabel also works with Flight Operations and other stakeholders as part of the Fatigue Risk Management (FRM) working group. She has been a member of the IATA Cabin Operations Safety Task Force (COSTF) for the past nine years and was previously and the future Chair of the task force.
