Captain Carl Davis

Director, Air Crew Operations, Training & Professional Services, Boeing Global Services

Carlton “Carl” Davis is executive director of Air Crew operations as part of the Training & Professional Services group in Boeing Global Services. He is responsible for employees working in the Flight Technical and Safety group, Flight Training – Airplane group, and the Pilot Services group. Air Crew Operations has approximately 100 personnel, a third of which live outside the US. The professionals of Air Crew Operations serve more than 400 customers delivering operational expertise, flight and cabin safety training, and operating Boeing’s Next-Generation 737, 737 MAX, 747-400 and -8, 777, and 787 airplanes globally.

Capt. Davis most recently served as the Chief Pilot – Pilot Services. He was responsible for the recruitment, training, and deployment of a team of instructor pilots that focused on long term pilot placements after the initial “Entry into Service” flights were complete. Prior to that position, he was the 787 fleet manager for Boeing Flight Services while holding his own qualification as a pilot on the Boeing 787. In this position, he ensured pilot training on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner simulator was staffed with qualified instructors across five global campuses. Capt. Davis first moved into management as assistant chief pilot for Flight Crew Training and, when he first arrived at Boeing, was an instructor pilot on the Next-Generation 737, 747-400 and 777.

Before joining Boeing in 2005, Capt. Davis was a domestic and international pilot for Delta Air Lines, flying the Boeing 727, MD-88, 757 and 767 models in commercial service. Having held a variety of positions throughout his early career in general and corporate aviation building experience and flight time, he holds type ratings in the B-737, B-747, B-767, B-777, B-787, MU-300, BE-400, CE-500, DA-20, DC-9. He also holds a Flight Engineer Certificate with Turbojet ratings as well as Advanced and Instrument Ground Instructor Certificates.

A diversity and inclusion advocate, he teaches classes in support of the Global Diversity and Inclusion programs at sites across the Boeing enterprise, promoting the concept of diversity education to foster an inclusive work environment.

Capt. Davis attended the US Naval Academy as well as Indiana State University. He has a bachelor’s degree in General Studies/Business from Schreiner University in Texas, as well as a Master of Science degree in Leadership, with distinction, from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
