Captain John Steinnes

Special Projects Manager, Boeing Training & Professional Services

Captain John Steinnes is a flight training manager for Boeing Training & Professional Services, part of Boeing Global Services. He is responsible for supporting training development efforts for the B737 MAX, B777X, and extended envelope training programs in addition to managing Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) customer training, which is conducted at Boeing global campus locations. In 2007, Captain Steinnes retired from Alaska Airlines, where he served as a B737 CL/NG check airman, simulator crew resource management instructor, and flight operations quality assurance team analyst. Prior to his career at Alaksa Airlines, Captain Steinnes retired from the US Air Force as a lieutenant colonel after 21 years on active duty, culminating in his assignment as the commander of the 1st Military Airlift Squadron, Andrews AFB, Maryland, where he flew the VC-137 (B707) in support of the Office of the President of the United States. A graduate of the University of Washington, Captain Steinnes has a Bachelor’s degree in Geography. He earned his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Webster University. Captain Steinnes holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate and is type rated in the B707, B720, B737, B777, B787 and L-382.
