Closing the Gap with Comprehensive Experiential Training: How Raising the Industry Standard for Tomorrow’s Aviation Professionals Can Reduce Attrition Rates and Increase ROI
Today’s flight attendant is faced with a variety of situations and settings with which they may have had little to no experience with or exposure to prior to employment. This poses a gap in one’s ability to fully comprehend career expectations and/or act with professionalism, both of which affect employee productivity. To close this gap, it is suggested to raise the industry standard for flight attendant applicants by instituting a comprehensive and experiential pre-qualification training and certification program.
Comprehensive Experiential Training can be accomplished via virtual reality where students may gain foundational knowledge of the industry, airline operations, various job duties, and unique aspects of the flight attendant career in a realistic, hands-on setting. They may develop skills in specific flight attendant competencies, customer service qualities such as poise and diplomacy, develop acumen in company protocols and policies, and learn to successfully navigate their way through various passenger scenarios, all designed to test and measure levels of proficiency and professionalism set within the bounds of company policy & culture.
Setting a higher industry standard for tomorrow’s aviation professionals through pre-qualification certification can empower the new hire employee with the tools & confidence to fulfill the various roles they must perform during the course of a flight. Knowledge and experience gained via virtual training can improve student test scores, increase professionalism, decrease attrition rates, and ultimately increase airlines’ ROI.
