First Officer Robert R. Thomas, Vice Chairman, ALPA National Training Council / Vice Chairman, ALPA MEC Training Committee at United Airlines
Robert Thomas is the Vice Chairman of the ALPA National Training Council and also serves as Vice Chairman of ALPA MEC Training Committee at United Airlines where he flies as an Airbus pilot in EWR.
Prior to joining United Airlines, Robert worked at Colgan Air as an SF-340 pilot, ground instructor, and served as an ALPA ASAP ERC member under the Central Air Safety Committee. During his time at Colgan, Robert developed and facilitated Crew Resource Management/Threat & Error Management (CRM/TEM) courses to pilots. After merging with two other carriers to form the present-day Endeavor, Robert went to work at Air Wisconsin flying the CL-65, where he served as the ALPA MEC Training Committee Chairman and subsequently as the Chief Pilot of its Philadelphia domicile.
Robert has also served as a trained LOSA observer and worked as a member of the content development team prior to facilitating United’s LEaP (Leadership Excellence and Professionalism) training. Robert completed his part 141 flight training at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa, OK where he earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree and has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. Robert holds type ratings on the SF-340, CL-65, and A320. Robert resides in Dalton, PA with his wife Kayci and son Weston.
